We met in a very modern way—on Facebook Dating—but matched as friends. What started as easy conversation quickly turned into something special. When one of us mentioned having tickets to see comedian Brad Williams and the other admitted to being a fan, we decided to go together. Before meeting in person, we FaceTimed—just to make sure neither of us was being catfished. Once that was settled, we planned a chilly April afternoon at La Cantera, ready to really get to know each other. With one car out of commission, the other made the drive to pick up what would soon become the love of their life—though at the time, there was a little doubt about whether the pickup would actually happen. From the moment we met, it felt less like a first date and more like reconnecting after years apart. We walked the mall for two hours, shared a lemonade and a pretzel, and laughed the entire time. Dinner at Max & Louie’s Diner—splitting a hamburger and fries—was simple, sweet, and perfect. A kiss in the parking lot sealed the night, followed by a joking question about whether the Brad Williams date was still on. It absolutely was! The following weekend, we went dancing at Cowboys Dance Hall. While getting ready on April 11th, Quinn looked at Amanda and said, “I completely forgot to ask you to be my girlfriend.” From that moment on, we’ve been inseparable.
When we first became engaged, we imagined a long engagement with a large wedding and reception. But as we spent more time with Quinn’s family, we realized that what truly matters isn’t the size of the celebration—it’s the people who stand beside us when we commit our lives to each other. Family means everything to us. Knowing how important it is for Quinn’s father to be present, we couldn’t imagine celebrating without him. With that in mind, we decided to embrace something more intimate and meaningful. We will be saying “I Do” on Veterans Day in a simple courthouse ceremony. This private, heartfelt exchange of vows allows us to focus on the true meaning of the moment and share it quietly with one another. But don’t worry—this is not a “skip the party” situation. It’s more of a “football season has entered the chat and stole everyone’s weekends” situation. So instead of trying to compete with tailgates, schedules, and fall chaos, we’ve decided to save the big celebration for the summer when everyone can fully show up, stay up late, and properly celebrate. We’ll be hosting a weekend blowout reception then—think good food, great music, and all the people we love together in one place finally getting to celebrate the way it deserves.
We still want to celebrate our union with the people who mean the most to us—and since we share a serious love for floating, we decided one day just isn’t enough… so we’re turning it into a full weekend getaway! Join us June 11–13, 2027 for a relaxed celebration at Neal's Lodges along the beautiful Frio River. We’re planning a cozy cabin setup for part of the group, but this weekend is really about gathering together, floating the river, and making memories—no matter where everyone stays. We’re also excited to celebrate his mom’s birthday that weekend, so it’s a double celebration full of love, laughter, and time with family and friends. The plan: Friday → Arrive, grill out, drinks, games, and catching up under the stars Saturday → Easy breakfast/brunch, then float the river Texas-style 🌊☀️ Evenings → Good food, good drinks, and plenty of time together What to bring: Bring your own tubes, coolers, and plenty of sunblock. Feel free to pack your favorite river drinks and snacks as well. RSVP (Important): We are asking for a headcount by January 30 so we can properly plan menus for Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast/brunch, and shared drinks throughout the weekend. With a large guest list, accurate numbers are essential for food planning and preparation. Note: This is a casual, come-as-you-are weekend—no formal seating, no strict schedule, just good people and a great time on the river.
