The basis of our relationship starts with the work Jesus Christ has done in our lives to make us who we are now! Without Christ and His gospel, our marriage would lack its meaning and purpose. In brief, we would like to share God's plan of salvation that has changed our lives, brought us together, and made our marriage possible! We believe that "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.... God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1) God made everything perfect and without flaw. Mankind was given the choice to obey their loving Creator, but chose to rebel, leading to the corruption of the world. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,". (Romans 3:23) As a result, this world is plagued by evil and brokenness. By God’s standard we “have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.” (Psalm 14:3) We all have, in some combination of the following, lied, stolen, cheated, hated (which is murder in the heart), lusted (which is adultery in the heart), or failed to acknowledge the God Who has given us life. We have broken our relationship with God, making us deserving of eternal punishment in hell. God is holy and will not tolerate sin, therefore we are sentenced to death. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” But, God in His mercy has made a way to have our relationship with Him restored. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) Jesus came to die in our place, willingly suffering the punishment from God we deserve, so we can go free and be looked upon by God as if we were just as righteous as Jesus Himself. Jesus is "the way, and the truth, and the life" and no one comes to God except through Him. (John 14:6) The condition for this salvation is turning from your sin and believing in Jesus as God and that He rose from the dead after three days in the grave. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." And "to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God," (John 1:12) because, "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) We believe this wholeheartedly, and we know that you can find eternal hope and forgiveness for your sins in Jesus if you haven't already, for "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:17) Upon faith in Christ, you are promised eternal life and everlasting pleasure. "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." (Psalm 16:11) "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God." (2 Corinthians 5:20) If you have any questions at all about God and how to have a relationship with Him, please ask us!
In September 2021, we were introduced for the first time in Design Manufacturing Lab at UF when Roxanna was a TA and Jett was a student. We did not interact too much at this time. However, two years later in May 2023, Jett became an intern at Lockheed Martin in Ocala where Roxanna was working full time. When Jett introduced himself to Roxanna, we remembered meeting in the past. The distant memory of seeing each other before was a great foundation for becoming friends. Roxanna was impressed with Jett and wanted to get to know him more, so she invited Jett and some other interns to get dinner at Chipotle and then go to a Bible study at her church after. After spending time with Jett and listening to him share his thoughts at the Bible study, Roxanna was smitten. The rest of the summer she sought to have more conversations with Jett and find reasons to stop by his desk. Jett could easily tell that Roxanna liked him, but it was not the Lord's timing for us to date at this moment. However, we built a solid friendship throughout the summer, going kayaking with other coworkers and going out to eat with other interns. Much to Roxanna's dismay, Jett finished his internship and returned to UF to finish his Bachelor's. Roxanna really missed Jett!
In June 2024, Jett had graduated from UF and returned to work at Lockheed full time. Unexpectedly, we saw each other on Jett's first day when he checked in at the security office. As the months went on, we interacted here and there on a friendly basis. In October 2024, Roxanna went to the Missions conference with her friend Kaitlyn where they heard from many encouraging speakers. The next week, Roxanna bumped into Jett in the hallway at work and briefly mentioned the conference to him. Jett asked Roxanna if she would like to get lunch that day in the cafeteria so he could "hear more about the Missions conference." Roxanna and Jett met upstairs shortly after that, and lunch was going very well, until Roxanna casually mentioned that she had a long-distance boyfriend in Texas that she had met on a mission trip to serve refugees. Alas! However, Jett and Roxanna remained friends and good coworkers despite this. As time progressed, Roxanna, through the Lord's help, saw that she needed to end that long-distance relationship, so she did so during the first week of January in 2025. Very soon after that, she thought about Jett again and prayed to the Lord for His help. "Lord, if it be your will for me and Jett to be together, will you please have him ask me about my boyfriend in Texas? That is what I will look for to know this is Your plan." So Roxanna continued to pray to God for Jett to ask about her relationship for the next few months. Meanwhile, Jett's brother's-in-law friend's wife had started a small scale Christian match making group that Jett's sisters kept suggesting for him to participate in since mid 2023. To participate, applicants send in pictures of themselves and answer get-to-know-you questions, and the matchmaker creates a profile of the applicant. Later, she will send the profiles of potential matches, and the applicant can decide if they are interested in getting to know one of the profiles. Jett signed up for it in March of 2025 and waited to hear back, but Jett was also thinking about Roxanna some more again. In April, Jett asked the Lord to provide an opportunity to find out if Roxanna was still dating the guy in Texas…. Jett and Roxanna had many friendly interactions, and Jett was trying to be cautious because as far as he could tell, Roxanna was still in a relationship with the other guy! On April 18th, Jett shadowed his friend Anthony at work to learn from him as the owner of an engineering firm in Gainesville. Jett distinctly remembers telling Anthony, “well, there’s this girl at work, but as far as I know she’s still dating someone, so we’ll see what the Lord does!” On April 23rd, we had just wrapped up a group meeting at our workplace and went our separate ways. Jett had made plans to get lunch with a coworker and was working on his laptop in the cafeteria while he waited for him. Suddenly, Roxanna walks up to the table and we began casually talking. "So, are you still considering moving to Texas for that refugee ministry opportunity?" Without missing a beat, Roxanna shared with him that she ended that relationship and was waiting to see what the Lord would do. The next week, after another work meeting, Jett asked to get lunch with Roxanna in the cafeteria once again. We had a great conversation. That evening, Jett was suddenly texted the different dating profiles of the people participating in the Christian matchmaking group! Jett looked at the profiles but was not interested in any of them, so he texted the matchmaker and told her that. However, the matchmaker said that she knew a potential match for Jett and that she would try to connect them.... In the week that followed, we interacted more at work, and on the following Sunday planned our first date to go on a walk and get lunch. The very next day, Jett notified the matchmaker that he had no interest in that other person who might be a good match for him because he had started getting to know someone from work (Roxanna)!
Surprisingly, the night Jett received the different dating profiles, Roxanna's friend Kaitlyn texted her and said “Hey, there’s this guy who I think you’d be a really good match with!” Roxanna wasn’t interested because she was thinking of Jett at work, but her friend sent her the profile anyway and Roxanna was shocked: it was Jett! Neither of us knew each other’s side of the story, until we shared the events of the past couple weeks on our first date. God is truly sovereign! Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Our first date had us at Baseline trail in Ocala, we walked for almost 7 miles, and ate at Big Hammock Brewery after. The ramen was tasty, but our conversations were so much better! After our third date at Haile Plantation farmer's market in Gainesville, Jett asked Roxanna if he could meet her family. Introducing Jett to the Storms family went so well, and we ate at Ulele on the river in Tampa; Roxanna's family loved meeting Jett. After dinner, Jett and Roxanna walked along the Tampa Riverwalk and watched the sunset while they made plans to keep the relationship moving forward. On week six, after spending more time with Roxanna's family, Jett told her that he wanted their relationship to result in marriage, and Roxanna, to Jett's delight, exclaimed she was on the same page! Over the following weeks, their relationship continued to deepen and they made plans for their families to meet for the first time, a final step before Jett would ask to speak with Mr. Storms. Meanwhile, the Su family had a trip planned to visit Jett’s grandparents in Wisconsin. They had a day trip planned to the rocky cliff shores of Lake Michigan in Door County for one of the days during their visit. Roxanna was casually invited to join for this family trip, while Jett and his family planned out a possible spot for a proposal. Thankfully, God provided the time for Jett to spend a weekend with the Storms family, and Mr. Storms gave Jett his blessing. Jett was so thankful! A month later, the family trip to Wisconsin was in full swing and the Su family (with their almost new daughter-in-law) made its way to Appleton, WI. Jett was careful to pack the precious cargo and a scrapbook he made of their memories thus far while dating. On the first full day of the trip, October 14th, we made the 1.5 hour drive from Appleton to Whitefish Dunes State Park. Jett took Roxanna to a beautiful section of the cliffs. While Roxanna was admiring the view, Jett pulled out the scrapbook from his backpack and presented it to her. We sat down on the cliff and looked at all the pictures together. On the last few pages of the book, Jett had written a beautiful poem for Roxanna, and after he read it to her, Jett got on one knee and proposed to Roxanna! Jett's family were the not-so-undercover-undercover photographers and videographers (they made their game plan the night before in his parents' Airbnb room). Roxanna was overjoyed and did not expect it to happen on this trip, which was to Jett’s delight! The family trip was so special and allowed for many moments to celebrate with family and grow in love for one another. God is so good! The last few months have been a whirlwind of planning, ministry activities, family activities, holidays, and more, and we are so excited to join our lives and become partners for life through the covenant of marriage. Thank you for reading our story, we are so excited to celebrate with you on March 21st! We praise God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ for all He has done to bring us together!
