The Bride Spills: Where It All BeganThe Bride Spills: Where It All Began

March 2022: The Beginning Of Our Love Story

We knew of each other through mutual friends and social media (ladies, keep those DMs open—seriously!). Then one fateful day in March 2022, Abiola slid into my DMs with confidence and charm, and let’s just say, he’s been there ever since! From the jump, I didn’t hold back—this wasn’t going to be small talk central. I hit him with all the serious, no-fluff questions (he still says it felt like a job interview). But hey, I needed him to know I wasn’t here to play games! Fast forward to our first date: Abiola went all out. He remembered every little thing I’d mentioned while we were chatting and turned it into something special. I was a bundle of nerves walking into it, but when I saw him, wow. He literally blew me away. And just like that, sparks flew, and we haven’t stopped talking or laughing since. The rest, as they say, is history!

Our Love, Our Words: Quickfire ReflectionsOur Love, Our Words: Quickfire Reflections

What is the most thoughtful thing your partner has ever done for you? Jesutofunmi: The most thoughtful thing Abiola has ever done for me was driving me to the airport in the early hours of the morning. I had a 6am flight and needed to be there by 4am, and without hesitation, he offered to take me. It might seem small to some, but it meant the world to me—it showed how much he truly cares. Abiola: After a long day at work, I was at home studying for my exam when I heard the doorbell. I opened it and was so confused when a Uber Eats driver was trying to deliver food. Must be the wrong address, surely? “It’s for Esther” he said and that’s when it dawned on me. She is not only thoughtful but puts the action behind the thought. What is your favourite memory together so far? Jesutofunmi: Our day trip to Milan was such an adventure! On a whim, we decided to fly to Milan and back in a single day. Despite some delays due to strikes, we had an amazing time. We explored the sights, enjoyed a delicious lunch, treated ourselves to gelato, and then hopped back on the flight to London. Abiola: My favourite memory with Esther is probably the day I asked her to marry me. After some misdirection a couple of days before, it went perfectly according to plan. And all the planning was worth it to see the genuine shock on her face when she opened the door. It was amazing to be surrounded by our friends and family who all somehow managed to keep it a secret! What is one thing you admire most about each other? Jesutofunmi: Abiola is so kind and genuine. He goes above and beyond for the people he loves and cares about. He inspires me to do the same! Abiola: Esther has a heart of gold. She is someone I can honestly describe as kind hearted. She is always on hand and willing to help wherever she can (even to a fault!) … something about first borns I guess. She always manages to add value to every situation.
