We met on Match.com. I reached out to Nolan first “hi, i sorta have a thing for Gingers 😉” he replied “ha! I happen to have a thing for Girls who ride scooters.” We chatted for a few days and planned our first date.

Our first date was on a Saturday at 9am at the Urbana farmers market. I got there first and waited nervously. I then saw a tall handsome redhead with a button down shirt, sleeves rolled up and khaki shorts, walking towards me and I thought to myself “wow I think he might be the one”. We walked around the farmers market talking and getting to know each other, we then sat down on the curb and decided that we wanted to have our second date that evening for dinner. Nolan went golfing with his buddies and I, of course, went shopping for a new outfit and to get my hair and makeup done with my girlfriend. That night we had dinner at The Destihl downtown Champaign. I was leaving the next day to go on a trip with my mother to Chicago so we then planned a get together that Friday at the Blues Brews and Barbecue.

That Friday night I had dinner with three of my girlfriends and he had dinner with three of his friends. We then met up at the festival downtown. I love how I got to meet some of his friends and he got to meet some of my friends. As the night went on we danced to the music, we drank fine beer and we ate delicious barbecue..by the end of the night we were holding each other close and decided that we would like to start dating.

On February 3, 2018 we moved to Indiana for my job with Wal-Mart. This was a huge step in our relationship, we had just bought our first house six months prior to this news. However, Walmart was downsizing and basically said if I wanted to keep my job I needed to move to Lafayette Indiana to a new store. So me and Nolan had a long discussion about what we wanted to do. We decided when life gives you lemons make lemonade. This ended up being a blessing in disguise. We rented a duplex for a year and then bought our second home. We currently still live in this house and we have two dogs whiskey and gunner. We both have great jobs and enjoying our life!

We took a camping trip to Virginia and stayed at the jelly stone national park campsite. We went on a couple of beautiful hikes in the mountains however, the weather was really crapy the time we were there. After a few hikes through the mountains we decided to check out a waterfall and the moment we walked up to the waterfall the weather turned beautiful. The sun came out, clouds parted and the water flowed. Nolan took my hands and said “Emily do you wanna make some memories?” and took me to a big spot on the rock next to the waterfall and got down on one knee and proposed, of course I said “YES” and gave him a great big kiss. I was so excited that he had told two of his friends so one was able to capture video and one was able to get pictures. That is one video I watch every day. I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with him! Most importantly, I’m so excited that you all get to witness this beautiful marriage.
