How We MetHow We Met

Blessy's POV: Jesslin moved to Texas in 2008, and it turns out we were both living in Mesquite at the exact same time. We had so many of the same friends, but somehow, we never actually met. A few years later, when I was at Texas A&M, some of his closest friends were there too. We even ended up at the same events, but still no introduction. Looking back now, it feels like we were always in each other’s circle — the timing just wasn’t right yet. Fast forward to June 2024. I was living in Houston, he had just moved back to Texas after years of living all over the country, and on my birthday, he sent me a DM on Instagram. I didn’t see it right away (thank you, spam folder), but when I finally did, I sent a casual “thank you” and went on about my day… but not before doing some FBI-level digging through mutual friends. That’s when I stumbled across a photo my friend and I had taken years ago — and there, in the background, was Jesslin, photobombing us. I had no idea that picture even existed until that moment. About a month later, I noticed on Instagram that he was in Houston, eating at one of my favorite restaurants - Aga’s (if you know, you know). I replied to his story to tell him, and that one message turned into an actual conversation. Soon after, he asked when I’d be in Dallas so he could take me on a date — and, by complete coincidence, I was heading home that very next weekend. I was hesitant at first, but I decided to go. And by the end of that first date, I texted my sister: “I’m going to marry this man.” When I think about all the near-misses — living in Mesquite, attending the same events, and that random photobomb — it’s hard not to believe that some people are meant to find each other, no matter how many twists, turns and years it takes. For us, it’s proof that timing is everything, and that everything happens exactly the way God intended all along. Jesslin's POV: She DM'ed me!
