Question

What to wear?

Answer

The weather could be sunny and hot, warm and humid, or cool and windy. When considering what to bring and what to wear, consider bringing a layer in case it gets windy and cool but usually in August in NH the weather will probably be on the warm side (usually around 80). We want everyone to be comfortable at our rustic wedding! Women, feel free to wear flip-flops. You will be getting in and out of boats, and walking down a forest path, so high heels may not be the best option. Men, if you want to wear khaki shorts with a short-sleeved dress shirt, or something similar-- we are completely fine with that!

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

The island ceremony will be happening rain or shine. Thunderstorms and lightning will prevent us from using the boats. If this happens and we can’t make it to the island we will post something on the website and try to reach out through email with instructions.

Question

What will be served for dinner?

Answer

We will be enjoying a New Hampshire-style BBQ dinner! If you have any allergies or food concerns, just let us know ASAP and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Question

Is there a gift registry?

Answer

We’re excited that you’ll be able to join us for our wedding! We already have many of the things we need to make our house into a home. Your presence with us is the best gift that we could ask for. We are so excited to spend a day celebrating with good friends and family. However, if you would like to mark the occasion with a gift, we setup a registry on this website for a honeymoon fund and a new house fund (click the registry button at the top of the page). Please note that there is a fee of 2.5% that will be charged if you donate through the website. Alternately, we will have a gift table and card box at the reception.

Question

About Church Island

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be held in the outdoor open-air chapel on Church Island. The year 2019 will be the 116th season for its use as a special place at Squam. For more information, visit the website: http://www.churchisland.org/

Question

About Squam Lake and New Hampshire

Answer

Squam Lake is in central New Hampshire, about 100 miles north of Boston. It is about 12 miles long, 5 miles wide, and 90 feet deep in the deepest spot. It is studded with many islands, and the shoreline maintains a natural look, backed by forested mountains. The water is clean and clear, and you will find loons and eagles living there. It was the setting for the film "On Golden Pond."
