Once an old transit hub, Union Station is now the cultural epicenter of downtown Denver, featuring great food and drink from Mercantile Dining and Provision, Snooze (always a wait, but so worth it!), The Kitchen Next Door, Pigtrain Coffee, Stoic & Genuine, Ultreia and The Cooper Lounge. Check out the Farmer's Market, which is open on Saturdays from May through October, 9 AM - 2 PM!
Denver Milk Market, part of the Dairy Block and right next to Coors Field, is one of Denver's newest ever-popular food halls. Bao buns, pizza, and fried chicken to name a few, plus plenty of booze.
A picturesque block with great restaurants and cute boutiques.
The Padres are in town. Take me out to the ballgame!
Located right across the street from Union Station, this is one of Denver's original breweries, founded by former Governor John Hickenlooper. If you're in the mood for games head upstairs for billiards, shuffleboard and darts.
Your quintessential summer/fall beer garden, generally playing the best jams from early 2000s to help you relive your youth.
The most charming place in Denver to pick up some new reading material.
Just in case you need some last minute pampering.
The River North Art District (RiNo) is home to art galleries, specialty shops, great food (Denver Central Market, Beckon | Call, Hop Alley, Osaka Ramen, The Populist, Work & Class, Cart Driver), plenty of breweries (Epic Brewing, Odell Brewing, Ratio Beerworks, Our Mutual Friend, Black Shirt Brewing, Great Divide), distilleries (Irontown Distilleries) and even wineries (Infinite Monkey Theorem). Start at Larimer Street and N Broadway heading away from downtown, and allow yourself to wander a couple blocks in either direction.
Lower Highlands (LoHi) is home to even more great food and drink. Shocking! Grab some Little Man Ice Cream on your way back downtown, and don't be intimidated by the line. Eat: El Five (stunning city views), Linger, Postino, Masterpiece Deli, Sushi Ronin, Root Down, Highland Tap & Burger, Bar Dough, Uncle Drink: Recess Beer Garden, Prost Brewing, Williams & Graham, Carbon Cafe & Bar, Zuni Street Brewing Both: Avanti F&B, Ale House at Amato
If you have time to make the trip, it'll be worth your while! Greensky Bluegrass is in town on September 13 (there's no such thing as a bad show at Red Rocks), and the park is open for visitors during the day. On event days, Red Rocks opens one hour prior to sunrise and closes to the public at 2 PM. Please call 720-865-2494 for changes to hours.
If you're looking to hike the Rockies but aren't quite up to a 14er (peaks with a summit above 14,000 feet, which Colorado is known for), Mount Galbraith is a moderate trail in Golden, CO, located about thirty minutes outside the city. Hit nearby Coors Brewery for a tour and some samples afterwards - you earned it!
This requires a full day and a vehicle, but if you have the time and resources there's no better way to see the Rocky Mountains. Spoiler alert: our engagement photos were taken here!
