Jason and I met 6 years ago towards the end of March. I was in school for surgical technology and working at a grill and bar in Pleasant Hill. Jason came in one day to speak to a manager. I asked him how I could help since the owner was gone. We had a very short conversation about how he needed a job to get back on his feet. I wanted to hire him as soon I saw him! He left his information with me, and left. When my boss returned, I told him about Jason. He asked my opinion, so of course I told my boss we could use him. A couple of days later, there he was, again, only this time talking to my boss rather than me. Once he left, my boss turned to me and said, “You were right. I’m going to give him a chance.” I was overjoyed. It gave me a chance to get to see him again, not to mention get to know him. For those of you who know Jay, we all know he’s not really a shy person. He’s a social butterfly who gets along well with everyone. Well, believe it or not, he was very quiet and almost introverted when we actually started working together. All we really talked about was work and teaching him how things worked. Eventually, he did start to open up. One day at work, he overheard my sister and I talking about our softball games later that evening. All of a sudden, Jason was interested. We found out both of us loved softball and could use each other to expand our teams and play together. We exchanged numbers, and that was it. Before we knew it, we were playing ball together. Helping each other move, meeting each other’s families. I was thrilled to meet his son, Caleb, who was a great little boy from day one. He was, and still is, a handsome, smart, sarcastic, loving, and charismatic boy. Carbon copy of Jason. We began a whirlwind of a life together, and we are still on this great journey together. I can’t wait to marry this man and solidify our families into one. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in my life to walk beside. He is the best of me.
