We recommend hiking Humpback Rock, a steep but short hike approximately 30 minutes from downtown Charlottesville. The views are incredible from the top! More information can be found here - https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/humpback-rocks-trails.htm. A GPS accessible address can be found by searching "Humpback Gap Overlook, Afton, Virginia 22920" in Google Maps (Google Maps directions are linked below).
Virginia has become an East Coast wine destination. Our wedding will be at Pippin Hill Vineyard, so we'd encourage you to check out King Family Vineyard, Veritas Vineyard and Winery, or Keswick Vineyards. If you prefer beer or cider, check out the Starr Hill Brewery and Blue Mountain Brewery, Bold Rock (either location in Nellysford or at Carter Mountain) and Albermarle Ciderworks!
During your time in Charlottesville, you can visit Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello, which offers a ton of guided and self-guided tours. More information and tickets available here - https://www.monticello.org/visit/tickets-tours/. The University of Virginia also offers historical tours of its Grounds every day during the academic year at 10am, 11am, and 2pm, which leave from the Lower East Oval Room of the Rotunda. More information can be found here - https://www.uvaguides.org/historical-tours/.
Enjoy autumn in the Blue Ridge at Carter Mountain - there's apple picking, cider, apple cider doughnuts, and more!
