A New Chapter Begins

We first met in the summer of 2017—two teens at low points in life who somehow found comfort and friendship in each other. Life pulled us in different directions, but we stayed loosely connected through social media, always cheering each other on from afar. In 2021, Caden’s daughter Oakley was born, adding new joy and purpose to his life. Then, in January 2023, the stars finally aligned. Jessie had a trip planned to Everett, and when Caden reached out, she said yes to a date—their first of many—on February 2nd over belt sushi (a tradition that quickly became a favorite). From that night on, the conversation never stopped. We made the distance between Salem and Lake Stevens feel like no distance at all- weekend trips, long phone calls, and a thousand little signs that this time, everything was right. In April 2024, Jessie made the big move north to begin building a life with Caden and Oakley. Now, we’re writing the next chapter of our story—and we’re so thankful that we get to celebrate the beginning of it with all of you.

What was supposed to be a quick 2 mile round-trip hike to Franklin Falls turned into an impromptu 7 mile adventure when we realized the road was closed about 2.4 miles from the trailhead. After trekking through the rain, snow, and sporadic sunshine on our way up to the beautiful waterfall, Caden got down on one knee at the base of the most beautiful waterfall I’ve ever seen. We can’t wait to begin the rest of forever, thank you for being a part of this celebration.
