Becker Vineyards
The scene of our engagement đź’Ť Becker is easily our favorite vineyard in Fredericksburg and worth the drive if you're coming early or extending your visit! A place that holds so many memories, where we love to bring friends and family, wander the grounds, and enjoy exceptional wine in a beautiful setting.
Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail
Just steps from the JW Marriott, the trail around Lady Bird Lake is perfect for a walk along the water. With beautiful views of downtown, it's an ideal way to explore south of the city and make your way toward the shops and restaurants of South Congress.
Mount Bonnell
Mount Bonnell offers scenic, panoramic views overlooking Lake Austin and the rolling Hill Country that surrounds. It’s a quick and easy climb that delivers a big payoff at the summit.
Suerte
If you've already visited, we've probably taken you here! Suerte is one of our favorite dinner spots for an elevated Texas/Mex feel. We highly recommend their fresh made masa, refried lentil dip, and Suadero tacos. Their cocktails are also phenomenal. Jessie's fav is the Rosa Peligrosa. Fair warning: You will need to make a reservation several weeks in advance to get a table.
Taco Joint
The authentic and local vibe, friendly service, quality ingredients, and generous portions are just a few reasons Taco Joint is the best spot for breakfast tacos in all of Austin. Our top picks include the Steak, Egg & Gouda and the Bacon, Egg & Potato, especially paired with the signature chipotle salsa.
Terry Black's Barbecue
Terry Black's is a must visit Austin BBQ spot that serves traditional Central Texas style smoked meats with big, smoky flavor. Known for tender brisket, hearty beef ribs, and classic sides done right, it’s a relaxed, casual place to dig into some seriously satisfying barbecue. Fair warning: Depending on the time of day you may find yourself in a long line.
Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que
Cooper's is a classic barbecue spot right downtown on the same block as the JW Marriott, making it an easy and delicious stop after exploring the city. We especially love their juicy smoked turkey, and because the lines here aren’t as long you can dig in sooner and without the wait.
Quattro Gatti Ristorante e Pizzeria
Quattro Gatti is our favorite cozy Italian restaurant right on Congress with a warm local vibe and a focus on fresh ingredients. From amazing pizzas to homemade pastas to seasonal daily specials, it’s a great spot for a flavorful Italian meal in the heart of the city.
Ezov
Ezov brings the flavors of Israeli cuisine to Austin, inspired by the markets of Tel Aviv and made for sharing with friends and family. The menu changes with the seasons, but one dish that we'll keep coming back for is their fall-off-the-bone pastrami lamb shank, a dish regularly highlighted as one of Austin's top plates to try.
Desnudo Coffee: Downtown
Desnudo is a cute coffee truck downtown, right next to the JW! They have great coffee and the matcha options are some of Jessie's favorites. Sometimes there is a little taco pop-up next door too.
Mañana
Mañana on South Congress is another cute coffee shop. It's about a mile walk over the Congress bridge on SoCo, which is such a fun area to explore and do some shopping.
