Alex and Jessie first met in the fourth grade, at FFCA in Calgary. Although in the same school, their friendship really started as they began middle school together. Alex and Jessie would share jokes and music and would chat more on MSN after school ended. As middle schoolers do, Alex and Jessie even ‘dated’ in the seventh grade, although their relationship probably only lasted for about a month. Filled with pre-teen drama, one time Jessie was dared to ruin a pair of Alex’s shoes by intentionally dousing them in glitter glue. Luckily this little stunt didn’t end their friendship, but it certainly caused a lot of trouble at the time! High school brought new challenges and experiences for both, but Alex and Jessie always had a connection to each other. Although they often moved in different circles, their friendship would pick up where it last left off whenever they shared a class together. Most particularly, Alex and Jessie remember being the closest (and the most disruptive) during Grade 10 Chemistry and Grade 12 Social Studies together. Upon starting post-secondary, Alex and Jessie called it official as university life began. They supported each other through the highs and lows of university, helping each other out along the way. Alex rewrote an essay for Jessie after she shockingly got a D+, and Jessie convinced Alex to join her in taking some primate Anthropology classes together so she could help boost his GPA. They graduated together, started their careers, and continued building their life together all while saving for the eventual goal of buying their first home which they achieved in August 2022! Ten years after graduating high school, Alex began to plan his proposal to Jessie and decided that a trip to New York would be the perfect time! The day of the proposal, Alex and Jessie went to Brooklyn for some sightseeing and a pre-planned dinner. As they walked towards the restaurant, they stopped to view the Manhattan skyline which is where Alex got down on one knee and asked Jessie if she would marry him. That night, they celebrated their engagement with a romantic dinner, toasting to the future and reminiscing about all of their years together. Their wedding will be an intimate celebration of love and friendship and Alex and Jessie greatly appreciate all of the continuous support from all of their family and friends!
