Surfing, shops, restaurants, and bars, this is the quintessential California beach town. Walk or bike from Manhattan to Hermosa to Redondo to savor three distinct beach towns. For a walk on the wilder side head north to Venice Beach where the boardwalk always has something interesting to watch. Santa Monica has good shopping and the views from the ferris wheel are pretty cool.
Drive the Pacific Coast Highway along the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Stop at the Wayfarers Chapel, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright’s son, or the informative Point Vincent Interpretive Center. Nearby Terranna Resort and Dolphins Cove have public parking and lovely walking paths.
Art Museums. Culture and LA might seem like an oxymoron but it shouldn’t. There are a wide variety of museums and all are impressive.
