Jessica and I met online—on eHarmony of all places—a website we grew up hearing about on TV commercials back before TVs were flat. She viewed my profile first which ended up sending me a notification. I visited her profile and noticed we had a lot in common, leading me to send her a message. We talked back and forth for a bit, and things seemed good. I didn’t want to come across too eager, so I left some time between replies… you know, to play it cool, but not come on too strong… Apparently, I was coming across a little too uninterested, as Jessica thought I wasn’t serious. I started to get disappointed when she hadn’t replied to my last message. I soon left for a family vacation and wasn’t on my phone much. When I got back, I decided that would be a good way to reapproach her, so I sent her a message like, “Hey, just got back from a trip to Hawaii and noticed I haven’t heard from you in a while”. Little did I know, Jessica had become disillusioned with eHarmony and deleted it from her phone, also thinking she turned off notifications. Somehow, she left email notifications on and my message came through! Note—This is now the second time old technology came in clutch for us. Email for the win! Anyway, back to the story. Jessica saw my email and replied! I brought up maybe video chatting and she replied, “tonight”. Woah! I said yes and the rest is history! We video chatted that night and really hit it off. After that we scheduled another chat in a couple days, then another after that, and another after that! Not too much longer we finally met up in person and officially started dating. That was back in November 2022. Now we are happily engaged and excited to celebrate our wedding with you!
Jordan and I were dating for nearly a year when we got engaged. We both felt ready and I could tell he was thinking about how to orchestrate a proposal. In my efforts to help, I offered the idea to go back to Leavenworth, WA. This was where we met in person for the very first time! Jordan loved the idea and he got busy (secretly) looking for rings and planning the events of the day. On September 30, 2023, we arrived in Leavenworth and first walked around the town looking at shops before our scheduled visit at the reindeer farm. The farm was both fun and a little scary given the reindeer are way bigger in real life than you think! Next was lunch! We went to Heidleburger - if you haven’t eaten there, we highly recommend it! As we finished eating I had a sneaking suspicion that the proposal was happening soon. Jordan had requested to go back to the fish hatchery, which is where he asked to hold my hand for the first time. He was also wearing a jacket - and if you know Jordan - he hardly ever wears jackets! I could tell he was feeling warm, but he stood firm that he was fine. Fast forward - that is where he was hiding the ring! We got to the hatchery and noticed there was a 5k race happening - which ended up drawing a bit of a crowd. We continued walking and I could tell he was getting nervous! I tried to help him out a little and led us to a quiet spot by the river…no proposal yet. We kept walking and I found a cute bridge that would be nice…no proposal yet. I was starting to wonder if it was going to happen at all. We took a path back into the wooded area that was quiet and peaceful, with an amazing mountain view. Just as Jordan suggested we go back to the car, I started walking and he pulled me back and hugged me. He shared some sweet words and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! And of course I said, yes!
We have the same initials! Jessica L. Sauve Jordan L. Sjodin We both participated in Running Start and graduated with our Bachelors Degrees early! Jessica was the first one to say, "I love you."
