We Finally Do!

It's been over 15 years in the making and we are excited to celebrate our love! Our love story started with working in a Safeway grocery store with stolen glances and innocent "hello's." A summer between college years and with some friendly interference, we became a "Facebook official" relationship. The hour-long phone calls, all day texts, ooVoo/Skype/Facetime video calls, and alternating weekend visits made this mid-distance relationship successful through graduation. While figuring out what post-grad life looked like, a blue-eyed crazy pup was brought home and named Harley. After much patience from a supportive father, we continued to figure out adulthood and moved to our first apartment in Alexandria where the relationship was really tested thanks to Ikea furniture that comes in a million pieces. Four years later, a lot of maturing, and Harley begging for her own yard, we bought our house in Woodbridge! We continued to test our patience in the relationship with bigger spaces, painting, more Ikea furniture, and yardwork. To really spice things up, little Pinto Bean was brought home and Harley got a brother she never asked for. Right when we thought we had life figured out, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and all of the sudden Sean’s bathroom practices mixed with a shortage of toilet paper became the next challenge in the relationship. Kidding of course! In unknown times, we were able to support each other while we both worked in the hospital and physically separated from family and friends. Home cooked meals together, scrabble, card games, etc. made us closer than ever and appreciate the life we have. As we settled into the “new normal” ways of life and a FUN date night of dinner, drinks, and a couple of rounds of bowling at Woodbridge’s finest Bowl of America, Sean FINALLY proposed in our home - in the kitchen - with Harley and Pinto Bean as witnesses! We quickly texted “you up” and scared everyone with late night messages/phone calls to share the excitement! Right when we thought we would be ready to plan a wedding, a wellness exam for Jess quickly turned into a breast cancer diagnosis and several years of treatment. Through it all, Sean never stopped loving unconditionally, being a great partner, and already living in his promises of his future vows. After complete remission, some regrowing of hair, and working out, we are ready to marry and celebrate with family and close friends! Let’s do this!!
