We met at Barrel House on a night they had trivia. I was with two of my girlfriends (Angie and Kellie) at a table next to the bar playing trivia and eating dinner. Cory and two friends walk in (Mike and TJ) and they belly up to the bar. TJ starts talking to us three, then sooner or later, they all three start talking to us. They thought we were trying to cheat off them for trivia. No! Trivia was over and my friend Angie asked where they were going from here... they answered "wherever you're going" (eye-roll) hahaha. We ended up going to The Office (for those who don't know, that is a bar downtown Davenport) and that is when Cory came up to me and said the famous line "you're right up my alley" but I didn't buy it right then and there. I actually tried to get him to talk to my friend Angie... yeah, that wasn't happening. Angie just so happens to give him MY number (but Cory will tell you I gave it to him, which I really don't remember) and he texted me every so often. We all met up again at trivia and became closer friends and then I guess I fell for the ol' "you're right up my alley" pick-up line boy.... and the rest is history.
Door County, Wisconsin - my birthday trip. Just so happens, I had painted my nails (just in case) before we even left home. Now, we've been there for 3 days already, I was thinking to myself... What. The. Heck? I don't think he's going to do it up here... you know, all the emotions and thoughts that go through a girl's mind, we can't help it. Woke up on my birthday morning, with texts, calls, and whatnot. Got on the ol' Facebook to check the famous birthday postings to find MY OWN BOYFRIEND wished me a happy birthday on Facebook, but I know what you all are thinking... oh he must've posted something sweet and nice. HAHA not exactly. He posted "Happy Birthday Roomie". Oh. My. Gosh, I was livid. "why would you call me your roommate?" "That's so not funny"... blah, blah, blah. Now, we are on our way to go hiking because that's what we had planned to do. No one is talking in the car... silence. I'm still angry, Cory is trying to explain to me that it was "just a joke" but I'm not having it. We get to the hiking spot, pouring down rain. We start our hiking adventure, and I finally just come around and "forget" (do women ever forget?) about the birthday post. We hike, take silly photos, and watch the waves of Lake Michigan SLAM against the cliff walls. Cory is getting as close as he can to the edge of the cliffs, freaking me out! haha We hike for around 2 hours, and I'm thinking to myself, is this going to be the time? What's taking him so long? After he climbs out of a hole (literally) he asks "let's take a selfie over here" I was thinking to myself, "WHAT? He never wants to take a picture, but okay, let's do it". I take the selfie, on the edge of a cliff and turn around to show him, and he is on ONE KNEE. OMG OMG! YES! I snatch the ring from his hand cause I didn't want him to drop it haha. We left the park, went back and changed, then did winery tours and had the best dinner at a place called Chop! It was literally the best day, after my freakout moment.
