Tyler and Jessica met through Facebook. Ironically enough, their families had known each other for years. Tyler's mom was Jessica's mom's dance team sponsor in high school. Jessica was also friends with Tyler's brother Brad and had known Brad's wife Makayla for a few years. She never knew that Brad had a younger brother. Fast forward to October or November of 2020. Jessica had just moved back from Abilene and was not looking for any sort of relationship. In fact, when Tyler asked her out, she considered cancelling on him and running for the hills. But when she finally came to her senses and met up with him at Taco Casa, she was so glad that she changed her mind.

Tyler met Jessica's parents right away. In fact, the first time he met them was at the Harper School Stock Show, where her youngest sister was showing her pigs. Tyler brought his daughter, Annabelle, who quickly fell in love with Jessica's parents and sisters. And Tyler, after introducing himself to her parents, jumped right in to helping Brooke with her pigs. Since then, Jessica has watched the bond Tyler has with her family grow, especially with her sisters. She knew she wanted to spend forever with this man when he sat for 4 hours in Ingram at a softball game with her family when she wasn't there. He never fails to amaze her. Tyler's family has been the most welcoming and wonderful family. His parents, Deb and Dave quickly welcomed Jessica into their home. Jessica says the best part about meeting Tyler was being introduced to his kids. Colt and Annabelle instantly stole her heart.

In July of 2021, they had a surprise 50th birthday for Jessica's dad in Concan at the Frio River. It was the first family vacation they had taken together, even Annabelle and Colt got to come! On that Friday, the 30th, Jessica's dad's birthday, for some reason Tyler and her dad were up in the cabin while everyone was down at the river. Tyler asked him then if he could marry Jessica, and he gave Tyler his blessing. In September, Jessica's mom had made plans to throw her a 30th birthday party. Little did she know that Tyler, her mom, dad, and both of her sisters planned this huge surprise engagement. She doesn't like getting dressed up, especially since it was hot outside. She didn't want to wear makeup. She wanted to be comfortable, but Baley had other plans. She insisted that Jessica dress cute. She had even went with Jessica, her mom and Brooke to get their nails done earlier that week. Once Tyler and Jessica got to her parents' house, she kept seeing more and more people pull in the driveway and was just so excited that people wanted to celebrate her 30th. Little did she know, the actual reason they all were there was because Tyler was proposing.
