Even though Steve and Jessi had never met, they knew a lot of the same people. Their close friends and family kept mentioning them to each other and that they had a lot in common. Despite these matchmaking efforts it still took many months for Steve and Jessi to meet. They finally had their first date in April of 2019. From the beginning they were two peas in a pod. Steve took Jessi target shooting and to his surprise she was very comfortable on the range. They had such a great day letting lead fly that they decided to extend their date and drove to Lake Crescent. This wonderful day turned into an even better life together.
On the morning of November 28th, 2021, Jessi was awoken to gentle nudges asking her to get ready for an adventure. After a bit of grumbling she agreed and Steve whipped them up a quick breakfast. Together they packed a lunch, loaded up the dogs and started their trip out west. They drove for close to an hour and Steve informed Jessi that he was taking her to Kloshe Nanitch, an old fire lookout tower above Snider Ridge. The dogs were enjoying their noses out the window, sniffing that crisp Fall air. The turning leaves were beautiful. When they reached the lookout point they were met with a small crowd and an overcast sky. Steve suggested they wait out the clouds and enjoy their lunch. After lunch, the crowd had cleared and they had the entire lookout to themselves. That's when it happened. Steve dropped to one knee and asked Jessi "Will you Marry Me?" In shock and complete surprise Jessi replied "Yes, of course I will!" In that moment the clouds began to clear and the vast valley floor opened below them. At that point the view extended all the way down the valley to Lake Crescent. The two carried on their adventure exploring side roads and an array of beautiful scenery. On the drive home the couple stopped in Indian Valley to watch a local elk herd that happened to be grazing on the side of the road. All in all, it was the perfect day and one the two of them will never forget.
