Ronak and I first met on his birthday. He was going out with a large group of friends and a mutual friend had invited me to join them. We got along so well that night that he reached out and wanted to take me to brunch the next day. He found out that I am obsessed with Mexican food and invited some friends to Escalantes which by the way, has some of the best white queso. Brunch didn't go as planned, I wasn't feeling too great and had to head home early. He didn't know if I was faking it because I wasn't interested or if I was truly sick (I was interested). He then asked me out on a date a few days later to one of his favorite restaurants, Taste of Texas. Anyone who knows Ronak knows that he doesn't love dressing up and would prefer to show up in scrubs, but this time was different. He showed up in a royal blue button up and khaki slacks AND even had dress shoes - he says he was trying to impress me. I, as most of you know, also prefer casual over dressy for most occasions and had to consult my girlfriends on whether or not to wear heels or dress up, too. When we look back at our first time at Taste of Texas to our dates now, it is much different than the others that followed (scrubs/jeans). After this date, the rest was history. We hit it off and have been dating ever since!
Ronak and I had been discussing the idea of getting married for a few months prior to him actually proposing. We talked about maybe going on a trip somewhere but nothing was working out with our schedules. We had also been talking with my parents about going kayaking for some time in the waterway of Woodlands whenever we were all free. Finally a weekend worked out and we got to go! We showed up and Ronak decided he preferred to go on the pedal swan boats rather than kayak. I didn't care as long as it was active and I could exercise being out on the water. A few minutes into our pedaling Ronak asked if I had a preference on a location for a picture. This was odd because as you know Ronak doesn't love taking pictures, but at the time I hadn't thought anything different and just answered ”by the upcoming bridge”. We let my mom know that when we got to the bridge we'd like to take a photo of us on this giant swan. As we prepared for the photo Ronak got on the backside of the swan and got down on one knee and said "Jessica, I know you've been waiting for this - will you marry me?" with a large smile. I responded with a laugh and "of course"! I grabbed the tiny little box and immediately closed it because I was worried we'd drop it in the water. Then he expressed he got insurance so I was allowed to put it on. The way Ronak chose to propose was so us and very authentic. He knows how much I enjoy being outside and trying new things together. It couldn’t have been more perfect! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Riviera Maya!
