How We Met

7.28.2015

Once upon a time Jess was sitting at home in Federal Hill drinking wine and perusing through her matches on Match.com, when suddenly she stumbled across a dashing young man. Unfortunately, this man did not respond. However, the internet is a big place so Jess took another sip of wine, clicked “next” and found Rob. They quickly connected over their shared love of sarcasm, the tv show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and favorite foods. A few weeks later Jess finally agreed to meet Rob at The Rowhouse Grille in Baltimore, MD. This was the first online date through Match.com for Jess, so her expectations were pretty low. Imagine her surprise when Rob showed up slightly late and immediately ordered dinner. It turns out this is actually a common behavior for Rob. Five years later, one shared Baltimore row home, many Virginia Tech (the real tech) vs. Georgia Tech football games, and several exotic “conference” trips, Rob and Jess decided to act like adults and moved to the suburbs.

The Proposal

3.7.2020

Fast forward to March 7, 2020. Rob and Jess went to dinner at their favorite Baltimore restaurant, Hersh’s, where dinner soon turned into drinks, at another bar, Don’t Know Tavern. They “coincidentally” ran into their good friend Cory at Don’t Know and were waiting to meet with his fiancé Bridget, both of whom Jess lived with previously. It is here that Cory received the dreadful call that Bridget had lost her engagement ring walking their dog in the park… Jess followed Rob and Cory to meet Bridget at Federal Hill Park, where they went searching for her “ring.” Suddenly Rob declared he found the ring, yet Jess did not believe him. She quickly marched over to Rob to inspect what he found. Not noticing that he was on one knee, and Bridget was filming, she confidently stated “that’s not it.” Far too many moments later Jess realized that Bridget probably hadn’t lost her ring at all and it was all a ruse to catch her off guard with a surprise. After a couple primal laughing noises that may not be human, she said “YES”. The night was capped off with a trip to another Baltimore favorite, The Outpost American Tavern, where they were greeted by some of their closest friends to continue the celebration! We can’t wait to share this special day with all our friends and family!!!!
