Raymond and I first met at a Kappa Alpha Order country party in Rolla, Missouri. At the time, I was an international student at MS&T University. His friend, Jake, who was dating another Brazilian student, introduced us. When Raymond approached me, he called me ''linda," which means beautiful in Portuguese. We talked all night long, we danced, he asked for my phone number, and we had our first kiss. During the week, we kept in touch, and we always met on the weekends to watch a movie or have dinner together. On October 25, 2014, after a Halloween party, Raymond decided to make our relationship official and finally asked me to be his girlfriend. With every passing day, our relationship became stronger, and it was hard to go even a single day without seeing or talking to each other. Raymond e eu nos conhecemos em uma festa da Fraternidade Kappa Alpha em Rolla, Missouri. Na época, eu era uma estudante internacional na Universidade MS&T. Seu amigo Jake, que estava namorando outra estudante brasileira, nos apresentou. Quando Raymond se aproximou de mim, ele me chamou de linda em português. Conversamos a noite toda, dançamos, ele pediu meu telefone e nos beijamos pela primeira vez. Durante a semana, mantivemos contato, e sempre nos encontrávamos nos finais de semana para assistir a um filme ou jantar juntos. Em 25 de outubro de 2014, depois de uma festa de Halloween, Raymond decidiu oficializar nosso relacionamento e finalmente me pediu para ser sua namorada. Com o passar do tempo, nosso relacionamento tornou-se mais forte, e ficou difícil passar mesmo um dia sem ver ou falar uns com os outros.

In the winter of 2016-17, Raymond came to visit my family and I in Brazil. He stayed with us for several weeks and we were able to experience the beauty of my country together. During one of our sightseeing dates in Rio de Janeiro, we went to a beautiful spot called Arpoador Rock to see the sunset. While we were sitting on the rock waiting for the sunset to paint a picture across the sky, Raymond asked me to stand up, and I said "No, honey. I am afraid of the height, let's stay sit." Then he said he needed me to stand up so he could show me something. With notable difficulty, I stood. When I looked to him, he got on his knee and asked me to marry him. My heart overflowed with great joy! He held me, kissed me and gave me a beautiful sunflower bouquet, which he knew from our time together was my favorite flower. From that moment, we were engaged and counting the days to be together forever. No verão de 2016-17, Raymond veio visitar minha família e eu no Brasil. Ele ficou conosco por várias semanas e pudemos experimentar a beleza do meu país juntos. Durante um dos nossos passeios turísticos no Rio de Janeiro, fomos a um belo local chamado Pedra do Arpoador para ver o pôr do sol. Enquanto estávamos sentados na rocha esperando o pôr do sol, Raymond me pediu para ficar de pé, e eu disse: "Não, querido. Estou com medo da altura, vamos permanecer sentados." Então ele disse que precisava que eu me levantasse para que ele pudesse me mostrar algo. Com notável dificuldade, fiquei de pé. Quando olhei para ele, ele se ajoelhou e me pediu em casamento. Meu coração transbordou de alegria! Ele me abraçou, me beijou e me deu um lindo buquê de girassol, que ele sabia que era minha flor favorita. A partir daquele momento, estávamos noivos e contando os dias para ficarmos juntos para sempre.
