Love in the time of Covid. Our first date was a socially distanced walk through Prospect Park that lasted about 5 hours, well into the night. Now, we know what you’re thinking: probably not the best idea to walk alone with a stranger in a dark park, but don’t worry, Jess’s guardian dog Linus was supervising. And Linus instantly approved. Despite his general mistrust of strangers, Linus greeted Ramsey with hugs and kisses. (Those who know Linus know this is high praise!) From our mutual love of dogs, to similar career paths, travels abroad, and New York dating disasters, the conversation carried over into tacos and margaritas in Park Slope. At the end of the night, Ramsey was a perfect gentleman and walked Jess home, but left her with a hug and uncertainty she would ever see him again. As it turns out: Best. Hug. Ever.
A perfect adventure. The mountains of Western North Carolina are a special place for us. We isolated ourselves from Covid at the Clark’s mountain cabin for the first two months of 2021, hiking and enjoying the beautiful mountain views with our two pups, Chloe and Linus. When we came back to the cabin this year, it was nothing out of the ordinary when Ramsey asked Jess to find a good hiking trail with a view. A Saturday like any other. An hour car ride and one carsick, vomiting pup later (Linus), we arrived at a trail with a 10 mile trek to the view and a 3 hour countdown to sunset (whoops). Making the best of it, we hiked along and came to a beautiful spot overlooking the river. Ramsey suggested we climb down to eat lunch by the waterfall and green pools (also a lovely view!). While Jess methodically and carefully climbed down the steep slope, Ramsey and the dogs bounded ahead. Once Jess reached the bottom she heard Ramsey calling for her help: Linus was stuck! In a panic Jess ran over to help poor Linus, only to find Ramsey and Linus holding a ring, asking her to be Chloe’s mom (the ultimate upgrade from her current status as Chloe's "mother-figure"). We’re so excited to make our pack official!
