How we met

"I am in trouble!"

How we met was nothing short of a magical movie scene and anyone there could attest to that. I have been friends with Nicole since high school. Luis, has been friends with Nicole’s older brother Marcus since they were in high school. How we never crossed paths back then is still something we’ll never understand. Fast forward to early 2019. Nicole decided to go up to PHX. I stayed home. While she was there she met up with “big Louie” as she called him and some of his friends. She ended up FaceTiming me while at the bar. I was in bed, pjs on, and retainer in. While we were FaceTiming a face popped onto the screen. It was Luis. He goes “hey, I’m Luis. You’re really beautiful!” I was mortified. I smiled and said thank you. Then I see Nicole’s mouth drop open and she screamed “WHY DID I NEVER THINK OF THIS BEFORE? OH MY GOSH! BIG LOUIE AND JSULL!” As soon as Nicole hung up Luis asked her questions about me and asked when he could meet me. Fast forward again to the weekend Nicole asked me to help her move out of her apartment so she could move to TX. She let me know she would be asking Luis to come down to help move the furniture and heavy boxes. The perfect time to meet. We all decided we’d meet at Illegal Pete’s on Friday for drinks. We were both were so nervous. My other friend Emily, Nicole and I got there early. We ordered drinks and sat down. A few minutes later Luis walked in. Neither of us believed in love at first sight. Until we saw each other. As he hugged Nicole I turned to Emily and said “I am in trouble” and she laughed and replied “yeah, you are!” We hugged and felt the immediate connection. When Luis tells this story from his perspective he says “It sounds cliche but it was literally like the whole room blurred out and all I could see was Jessica.. it really was love at first sight.” It was definitely a “when you know, you know” moment for both of us and we are so thankful to have found each other.

Our engagement story

11-2-19

I was under the impression that we were going to tailgate for the U of A homecoming game. Right before we were going to leave, Luis told me we needed to run an errand first. He told me to go get in the car and that I had to put on my sleeping mask. I was very confused and honestly thought he was playing a prank on me. He got in the car. I reached over to touch his arm and he said no! Little did I know he had changed from his U of A polo and khakis. He let me rest my hand on his leg. We drove for about 10 minutes. Longest 10 minutes of my life. I actually began to get car sick. We parked. He came and opened my door like he always does. He helped me get out of the car and he led me by hand. I began to hear the song our good friend Chip wrote about us start playing. We stopped and he kissed me on the forehead and pulled of the sleeping mask. There we stood. At the entrance to our church. Pictures of us posted all over the doors. We stood there and looked at all the great memories we have made. From the first date to the last as boyfriend and girlfriend. Pictures of me sleeping on his chest, funny Snapchat filters, and fun adventures. No words between either of us but a few I love you’s. It was a moment of reflection. GOD IS GOOD. Our life together has been so beautiful so far and it’s only just begun. He opened the doors and there was Chip up on stage playing our song live. There were rose petals down the aisle. As the song ended Luis looked at me and grabbed my face. He proceeded to tell me how much he loves me and more intimate things. He then got on a knee, showed me the ring, and asked me if I’d marry him. In that second, my dreams came true. We kissed and cried and next thing I know, our immediate family comes walking in. It was so awesome to share that moment of pure joy with everyone. We then took pictures with the awesome photographer Luis had hired. I then started FaceTiming and texting my friends sharing the amazing news. I GET TO BECOME LUIS'S WIFE!

SURPRISE!!

Engagement party

Fast forward to later that night...Luis said he has planned a nice dinner for us and our immediate family and close friends to celebrate. We got ready, drove to dinner, walked in the back room he had rented out and there stood many more people than expected. Our extended family members from out of town & some close friends! I was so happy! A room FULL of people I love. People that love our love. Then, out of the corner of my eye.... I see my other best friends. That had traveled far. Really far. From Montana/Texas/Oklahoma to celebrate our love. The same friends I had FaceTimed and texted earlier that day! That acted like they were living their normal day to day lives when I told them. Little did I know, they were in Tucson! I seriously dropped to my knees. I was so surprised! Drinks, dinner, laughs, tears, and hugs. LUIS DID SO GOOD! I’m so thankful for Luis and for everyone who helped make this day so amazing.
