One Saturday afternoon, Kyle, a Texas Tech graduate, and Jessica, a Texas Christian graduate, met up at a local favorite Dallas bar, The Skellig, to watch the two schools face off in a basketball game. Kyle had reached out to Jessica the day before asking if she wanted to get together to watch Tech "run up the score on TCU" the next day. Jessica responded, "if we were talking football or baseball, I'd disagree on that outcome, but since we're not, why not." Long story short, they hit it off, Tech won, and there has been a healthy rivalry around their two universities ever since.
Kyle and Jessica had recently decided to build a house in Grapevine, TX. While Jessica's parents were in town from Spring Branch, TX over Labor Day weekend, Kyle and Jessica took them out to their lot so they could check out the new neighborhood and meet some of Kyle's family. The plan was to look at the model home with Kyle's cousin and uncle, also their builder, and talk cabinets with Jessica's dad. However, under the ploy of Kyle's family "running late," Kyle was able to shift the plans to get Jessica perfectly placed on their grassy lot. It was then that he got down on one knee and popped the question! In this special moment, they went from building a house to building a home and life together.
