We met 16 years ago during a wild spring break weekend at UConn in Storrs. I was busy living the fun, carefree college life when, on this weekend, a handsome Colombian man in his army uniform arrived with my cousin and a group of friends to hang out. Neither of us knew it at the time, but that weekend was the start of our story that would only unfold over time. The following year, in 2010, JP was deployed to Afghanistan for a year. When he returned home, we remained friends throughout the years. With so many mutual friends and running into each other at parties, we always maintained a fun and easygoing connection. Through life's ups and downs, we're often reminded that everything happens in its own perfect timing. On July 8th, 2023, when life had finally aligned for us both, I asked JP to meet me for drinks at Dockside in Milford--just two old friends reconnecting, unaware that something beautiful was about to begin. The rest is history! From that night on, we were inseparable, it felt as if we had always been meant for each other. A month later, after a fun night out at one of our favorite bars, Tiernan's in Stamford, JP asked me to be his girlfriend. Our dogs got along so well that we quickly became a little family. We then moved in together soon after and started to create memories in a place we would call home. Shortly after this, JP's loving pitbull Bullet passed away from cancer who he had for 11 years. Over the past year that he was with us, we shared countless joyful moments. We will forever cherish these memories and carry them in our hearts, knowing he will be with us in spirit on our big day. On March 17th, 2025 in Puerto Rico at El Morro, JP proposed in the most amazing and unexpected way. Now here we are, ready to embark on the path to marriage, grounded in a strong and unwavering bond. We are so excited to say "I do" and celebrate this unforgettable day with the people who mean the most to us!
