From the very beginning, our story felt special. We knew each other a few years prior to our first date. Our first date took us somewhere meaningful, the barn in Dryden, Michigan to meet Buffalo, "Jessica's horse", and from there, everything just clicked. A natural connection grew into a love that has only deepened through all the ups and downs, our late-night conversations, experimental dinners, finding our first dog, Gunner, finding our second dog, Buck, moving in together, and buying our first house together. The last three and a half years together have been a fulfilling beginning, leading us to this moment and the life we’re so excited to share.
It was only shortly after Jessica and I started dating that I had the deep feeling she was the one I wanted to spend my entire life with. After a couple years dating we found out we were going on a week long trip to Arizona and the Grand Canyon. Right then and there I knew it would be the perfect time to propose. I asked her father Ed permission to marry his daughter and shortly after her mom Karen. Both followed with an excited yes. At this point I had the engagement ring and a plan in my head, somehow keep the proposal a secret and hope she doesn't stumble across the ring. We flew down to Arizona and eventually the Grand Canyon. Now figuring the best location with the best view. Thankfully we went to many different overlooks but it was still a tough choice. Some had too many people and others didn't feel like the one until we got to our second to last overlook. It was now showtime, this spot was so beautiful and breathtaking I knew it was it. Now I had to trick Jessica into standing in the right spot for “ a picture “ which ended up a challenge in itself. At this point nerves and emotions were flowing over me like a waterfall. I grabbed the ring, dropped to one knee and asked Jessica to spend the rest of her life with me and marry me. She was almost confused for a half second until the realization of what was happening, emotions rushed from her as she excitedly said yes. I was so nervous and emotional as well to the point of shaking but the view, the moment, surrounded with her family and everything leading to those few words “will you marry me” are something that will forever be so vivid in our heads, that's what makes it unforgettable.
