We are committed to following CDC recommendations as well as any local and state mandates regarding the COVID19 outbreak. This presents a few challenges. Given the uncertain nature of the pandemic, we recommend you DO NOT BOOK NONREFUNDABLE TRAVEL OR ACCOMMODATIONS. We are working to organize a safe and fun event with responsible social distancing. As of this writing, MASKS will not be mandatory, but we welcome you to wear one and we encourage you to bring one given the fluidity of the situation. While we hope to make the event as safe as possible, we understand some of you will choose to not attend. We fully respect this decision and plan to stream the ceremony online. The link will be posted in the future. PLEASE CHECK BACK periodically, especially the week before your departure, for COVID related updates.
If you are unable to attend but still want to celebrate with us you may watch the ceremony here at this zoom meeting link. Jessica and Joseph first met in the typical Florida summer heat. We both worked at the train yard. Jessica managed the passenger experience and Joseph loaded cargo. :::Jessica interrupts the story, yelling at me to tell it right::: We both signed up for a fishing charter... :::More yelling::: It was a dark and stormy night... :::sigh::: Said in my best Don Adams voice, "Would you believe...?" :::Jessica says no:::: Okay, fine. We met online through a dating site called OkCupid. This despite having attended the same baseball games, run the same races, and even attended the same church. We were in the same room maybe a hundred times. Yet, we didn't meet until Joseph showed up in an email titled, "People You May Be Interested In." As a result, I pretty commonly make up a more colorful story about how we met. Our first date was at an Asian street fare joint named Hawkers. We hit it off so well that we left together and each had an Irish Cream Stout at 3 Daughters Brewing. We hit it off *so* well, in fact, that we bought tickets that very night to a crawfish boil hosted by 3 Daughters scheduled two weeks later, but our second date would occur much sooner, after only a couple nights.
...or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Apocalypse The pandemic had presented limited options on how to "pop the question." The closures came quick. Restaurants, beaches, church, and sporting events were all closed. Finding a memorable proposal would require some creativity if it would have any element of surprise. Thankfully, I had help. The church sent an email requesting that I use my engineering expertise to go look at the building's alarm system. It "had been experiencing a series of false alarms." I knew Jessica would want to go too since we'd been stuck inside for a bit. I very carefully walked the building and inspected each and every door and window until we reached the middle of the sanctuary. I took a knee and said her name. Jessica turned around and said, "You are not!" She was convinced this wasn't a joke upon sight of the ring. Watermark, our church, has been a big part of our relationship. It was the venue for our engagement. And now, we're excited to invite you in as it hosts our wedding ceremony. For what it's worth, Jessica was pleased the proposal was less ostentatious than Joseph's usual style.
