JD and I had a typical first date... dinner it was! After driving clear past our dinner destination; caught up in conversation, I had realized I never told JD where to turn. "Uhhh, I think we missed our exit back there, we're almost to Akron." I think, maybe, I don't know, I forgot, I wasn't really navigating! We laughed and talked like we had been friends who hadn't seen each other in years. After that, we planned to see each other almost everyday until we just knew we were obviously seeing one another every day.
After a year of dating, I said "YES" to JD as he knelt on one knee to ask me to be his wife. I can't say I was surprised we would get married but clueless as to what was in store for me that day. JD and I had met with his family earlier that morning to enjoy a day together celebrating his mother's birthday. They had planned one of those fancy, private igloos right off the Cuyahoga River- mind you, with a beautiful view! After JD had practiced his moves in the bathroom right as we arrived, he didn't wait to ask. There, in front of the river, he asked me to marry him. Of course I said, "Yes" and the love story goes on.
