Popping the Big Question!
We met the modern way—through Instagram & DMs. I (Jess) commented with a simple “Where’s my plate?” after Chuck posted a picture in the studio with a heavy plate of food, and from there, the random texts and FaceTimes asking if I wanted to hear his beats started. IYKYK. Life was ironic: I was moving back to Virginia from Atlanta and he was moving to Atlanta from Virginia. We kept crossing paths without realizing it—same clubs, same circles, even the same hair school where his sister attended and I got my brows done at. We planned to meet a few times while he was in VA visiting, but it never quite worked out. Then came the invite to his sister Keykey’s birthday weekend in Richmond. I figured it should be safe since his sister and her granny would be present—so I went. LOL When we finally met, it felt like we had always known each other from first greeting. We hugged and walked in like old friends. That weekend turned into every day—FaceTiming, talking, connecting. For two years, we didn’t go a single day without it and visited each other every chance we could. Then Chuck moved me (AND my grown Rottweiler; he HAD to have been in love lol) back to Atlanta, just as COVID hit. Living together during lockdown tested everything, but it also built everything: ghost kitchens, clothing lines, content creation, and deep love. We became partners in every sense. It’s clear now—God kept us apart until the time was “Jess Right” to build something “Nyce” & beautiful.
