It was love at first swipe. Actually it wasn’t. He forgot to tell me (for two whole weeks!) that he lived in a different state and wasn’t moving back to Texas for another 2 months! By the time he did and we met in person, I told him I only wanted friendship (I was too scared at the time to try love again). Fast forward 2 more months (and after a horrible 2nd date), his patience, kindness, and honesty made me realize I had in front of me an absolute gem of a man and I was in love (again, despite that second date - yall the only thing we talked about was the weather!!) He never pressured me, never pushed me, and only gave me an unlimited amount of patience and understanding. And yall, let’s face it - he needed ALOT lol. However, since I was the one to friend zone him, I had to be the one to make the first move. Fair is fair. But from the very second we became more than friends, I knew this was different. HE was different. I knew I’d found the person I’d been looking for, for a (VERY) long time. He’s the man I’d prayed for, the man I’d waited for, and the only man that we wanted to add to our little family.

Ok, Let me tell you how it really went down. Yes, we matched on Hinge. Yes, while Jessica was in Texas. And Yes, while I was in New Jersey. But just what is distance and time when it comes to love? Exactly! Sit back and let me tell how the Lord worked! So now, once I move back to San Antonio, we finally meet and even though I was put in the friend zone I knew from that first date that there was something more and something special. Which led us to go on a second date. And it was absolutely and incredibly ….terrible! I had nothing to talk about but the weather. Call it nerves or anxiety that kept me from getting too deep with her but I didn’t want to let that stop me. And surprisingly, she didn’t let that stop her either. We continued to talk and find more ways to connect, continuing to grow closer. And when she invited me to her birthday dinner, I was excited to be thought of, and I didn’t think too much of it at first because we were still in this “friends stage” and thinking I would just be a small background seat filler at a table full of friends and family. But I still wanted to make a good impression and show appreciation of being invited so I spent 90minutes at Target trying to pick out the perfect gift and card for her that said “yes we are friends but I’m feeling something more and hopefully you are too. and that this small gift I spent 1 hour and 30 minutes trying to find shows how much effort I put into thinking about you and how I want to make you happy and see that smile every day for the rest of my life.” But, if not that, then it’s just a “happy birthday here’s your gift thanks for the invite”. Turns out this birthday dinner was made for me and her, with a small number of her loved ones in attendance. With my seat saved right next to her, it was like everyone melted away, like we were already an established couple who have celebrated countless birthdays together. Then BOOM! Now we are a couple! Then BANG! We’re in Love! And BAM!!! She’s my fiancée! And for the Grand Finale! …..tune in on Friday May 16, 2025 …they should really word limit these things!
