Answer

Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia (the region we will be in) and is one of the 3 Holy cities recognized by the Catholic Church (along with Rome and Jerusalem). It is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites where people would travel to visit the tomb of the apostle St. James which lies within the famous Cathedral. The pilgrimage movement continues today with people from around the world doing the "Camino de Santiago" to celebrate the Holy Years. The cathedral is unbelievable and considered a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture.
