The Battery is a beautiful place for a springtime stroll. Stop by Charleston's famous Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront Park as you walk toward the Battery and gawk at the colorful houses on Rainbow Row. End at White Point Garden.

For our historian friends: As you know, there are many slave plantations in the Charleston area. McLeod Plantation is one that is worth a visit. It is a Gullah/Geechee heritage site that is particularly attentive to the experiences of enslaved people both before and after the Civil War. Make sure to catch a tour- the interpreters are exceptionally knowledgeable.
Take a stroll or ride a bike along the Sullivan's Island beach. If you're driving over from Charleston or Mount Pleasant, make sure to have all wheels off the road when parking. They're very strict about ticketing!
