We met in January 2017 during the spring semester of our freshman year at Ohio University. Jess's best friend, Gabrielle, was supposed to go to a date party with Alex's best friend, Billy. Gabrielle thought it would be a great idea for Jess to come along with her, so she asked Billy if he had a friend to go with her friend. Billy asked Alex. So on January 13, 2017, we met at pre-game in Sargent Hall, followed by a date party in the basement of CI and an after party at Kurtz. We became good friends for the next year after that. On March 27, 2018, we decided to start officially dating. Alex graduated in December of 2020 and Jess in May 2021. Because of COVID, the world was in a weird place after graduations. We lived in Sunbury with Alex's parents for a little while to help save some money. We were then able to buy our first home together in April of 2022 in Dublin, Ohio. We were then very lucky to add our precious Golden Retriever, Winston, to our family in August of 2022. On November 9, 2024, Jess had been planning to go to an Ohio State tailgate that afternoon. When she mentioned this to Alex, he said he didn't really want to go and suggested going to the market and brunch instead. That day Alex walked all through the farmers market that day, got mimosas at brunch, and even stood in the JoAnn Fabrics checkout line to buy Christmas decorations. While out, Alex suggested getting ingredients to make a nice steak dinner that night. He then made dinner and insisted on cleaning up everything while Jess enjoyed a nice glass of wine. Winston then came to join Jess in the living room, sporting an adorable new bandana that said "Will you marry my Dad?". Alex got on one knee with the most gorgeous ring and asked Jess to marry him. It was an amazing, intimate night we will cherish forever. We have decided to have an intimate wedding in Italy in October of 2026.
