It all started as all modern romances do....on a dating app. In March 2023, Alex was perusing Hinge for potential matches when he came across Jess. He was immediately drawn to Jess's "intense" interest in hiking, desire for tacos and love for Christ. He swiped right IMMEDIATELY and started up the conversation. After the "appropriate" amount of time, two days later, Jess responded to Alex's inquiry. Both bonded over travel plans, outdoor adventures and interest in different cuisines. It only took Alex three days before he knew he wanted to meet Jess in person. Both agreed to meeting up at a coffee shop, Sovereign Grounds. Alex showed up early and Jess decided to show up "fashionably late" 7 minutes later. Alex didn't think things were off to a good start, due to Jess's refusal to allow Alex to buy her $6 mocha. However, despite the "rocky" start, it didn't take long to notice how they shared similar interests, hobbies, values and beliefs which led to a second date, and a third date...and so on. About one month later, Alex asked Jess to become official boyfriend/girlfriend and Jess quickly agreed! That next few months were filled with coffee dates, walks around the lakes, trying new restaurants, meeting each other's families and friends and traveling to New Mexico for the hot air balloon festival. By December 2023, Alex knew Jess was "the one" and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Soon after, Alex and Jess went ring shopping and with the help of their fabulous jeweler, Jesse, Alex found the perfect ring. On January 28, 2024, Alex continued their tradition of getting coffee after church, in a slightly different manner. Alex brought Jess to Lebanon Hills and made hot chocolate on his jet boil and went for a walk around the lake, found the perfect bench and popped the question! Jess joyfully said "yes!". The next few months were full of celebrations and wedding planning. Alex and Jess are so excited to begin this next chapter as husband and wife! Let the celebrations begin!
