We both went on a weekend retreat through our church's high school youth group. There, we started to talk and get to know one another. We didn't see much of each other on the retreat, but we felt inexplicably drawn to one another. On the way back to our church, Adrian asked a mutual friend for my number so that we could start texting. We talked every day since then and soon fell deeply in love.

Adrian typically works all day on Thursdays, but he asked for the afternoon off. He had his sister Anabella ask me to go take pictures with her. I agreed and we set off to Latta Plantation Nature Preserve, where Adrian was waiting on a dock overlooking a lake. He laid out roses and a candle-lit path to where he was. With every rose, there was a picture of us and a notecard with a reason why he loves me. We were both overwhelmed with happiness, and I said yes as the sun set before us.
