It’s a love story

November 15, 2024

Our Story 🤗 It was the morning of the Circuit Assembly on November 10th. I was headed back to my seat to grab my lunch bag when I saw my nephew Damien talking to some big-headed, light-skin brother named Hugh (yes… I noticed the head first 😂). Damien stopped me and introduced us. The moment we exchanged pleasantries, there was something there. I can’t explain it — just a feeling. We smiled at each other a few times throughout the day since he was the attendant in my section… but that was it. No real conversation. Just smiles. A couple days later, I randomly found myself thinking about him and wondering if he’d be at the Pioneer Seminar on Friday, November 15. November 15, 2024 arrives. I get to the seminar, find my seat, start settling in — but before I get too comfortable, I grab my comb and makeup bag and head to the ladies’ room. Right before I walk in, I look up… and there he is 😝 standing with some brothers (I never noticed them, just him). I smile and wave. He says hi with the BIGGEST smile 😃 and I go about my mission to freshen up. Fast forward to the end of the day. This man waves me over. And I’m thinking, “What in the world could he possibly want to say to me?” So obviously, I grab my bestie/niece Dillyn and make her come with me for backup. But when I got over there? The conversation flowed so naturally. The chemistry was undeniable. I honestly wish I could replay it because it was all a blur. I walked away hoping I’d hear from him again… but he never asked for my number. Later that evening at my nephew’s wedding rehearsal (yes, the same nephew who introduced us), he pulled me aside and said Hugh had texted him asking if I’d be interested in giving him my number. Immediately: yes. He gave him my number… and now I’m waiting. Overthinking. Second guessing. Wondering if maybe I read the situation wrong. Days go by. Then at the end of the week… I get a text from Hugh. I completely lost my cool and turned into a giddy school girl. We talked about Jehovah, our jobs, food, baking — everything. And like a perfect gentleman, he said he didn’t want to keep me long but wanted to see me soon to confirm how he was feeling. I told him I was free that Saturday. He took me to this amazing pizza spot called Vero. I was so nervous when I got there that I knocked all the menus off the counter 😳 embarrassing… but he didn’t even care. We sat at the bar and talked and talked and talked. The chemistry was incredible. I could have stayed there all night just listening to him and learning him. And that was just the beginning 🤍
