If you are a history buff like Grayson, you will love Fort Frederica! The British and Spanish fought on St. Simons to ultimate ensure that Georgia would become a British colony. This is where the British defended the colony. Take some time explore and learn the history of this beautiful part of the island!
This is another great spot for history lovers! Come explore the grounds and get lost in the cemetery! The cemetery has the graves of many of the islands founders such as the Gould family. Christ Church is the second oldest Episcopal Church in Georgia, and was built in 1820. The Wesley brothers helped to develop original ministry on the island and there is a memorial dedicated to them across the street from the church. The church was destroyed by Union Troops in the Civil War, but was rebuilt because of its beauty!
This is where Grayson proposed, so obviously it is one of our favorite spots on the island. This is also where the reception will be held. You can climb 129 stairs to reach the top for a beautiful view of the island and the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse was built in 1810 by James Gould, but was destroyed by Confederate forces in the Civil War to prevent the Union forces from using it to their advantage. The current lighthouse was rebuilt in 1872. HINT: the lighthouse will be open to our guests for free before the reception.
Finding the Tree Spirits of St. Simons has been something Jessica has enjoyed doing since she started visiting St. Simons in middle school. Hand carved by local Keith Jennings, there are about 20 carvings (although some are on private property). This is a fun activity for the whole family!
Southeast Adventure Outfitters offers kayak tours, nature boat rides, fishing, and paddle board rentals.
St. Simons offers many options for golfing. Home to the PGA Tour's RSM Classic, golfing is a popular pastime here on the island. Visit the link provided to explore all the options!
