It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens. So join us here at Magnolia Plantation to experience the beauty of its gardens and its rich history today.
Shortly after moving to Charleston Jessi went out of her comfort zone and attended the Charleston Animal Society’s Firefighter Calendar release party. At this party, she was approached by a outgoing girl who decided they would be best friends for the night. Jessi and this girl soon spotted a lonesome gentleman in the crowd. Jessi and her new friend decided to meet this fellow to determine his purpose for watching the firefighters on the stage. After introductions, it was determined that this gentleman was there to support his friends in the calendar. Jessi’s new friend disappeared and she was left with this gentleman named Dane. Dane was true to his description, a gentleman. He kept Jessi’s company with meaningless chatter and banter. From there, he invited her to the after-party with the firefighters that they just watched on stage. He never made her feel awkward for her terrible dance moves and introvert-ness. After the after-party he made sure she got safely to her car and got her number.
The proposal was fairy tale worthy. He planned the perfect weekend. A guys morning shooting, and a girls morning with breakfast and strolling Magnolia Plantation. Leaving the plantation house, Jessi was pleasantly surprised to see her favorite guy waiting for her. His excuse was that the guys were done shooting and he wanted to spend time the girls. The group continued to stroll the plantation. Walking past the ‘Long White Bridge” Dane asked Jessi to retake their Christmas photo. Thinking it was a cute idea she eagerly said yes. On the bench in front of the bridge, she un-knowingly smiled for the camera. Then, looked confused as Matthew Dane slid off the bench onto one knee to ask if she would marry him. She said, “really??” and then YES!!!!!
