Kody and Jessi had gone to the same school their whole lives, but their paths had never really crossed. It wasn't until the fall of 2010 when they first met through high school cross country. He was a junior and she was a freshman. By the time winter rolled around, Kody started talking to her more and more in study hall. She thought it was weird that he was talking to her so much so she had this feeling that he must really like her. Kody eventually asked her on an actual date, which consisted of a snowmobile ride and him showing her around his family's farm. The date ended with him asking her to be his girlfriend and then they shared their first kiss. Ten and a half years later they are now getting married... Finally!!
"Due to Covid," said too much in 2020, Kody's plan to propose to Jessi in New Orleans did not happen. Kody was unsure how he should propose with the uncertainty that surrounded Covid, but he was eager to ask her. He initially proposed on April 27th, 2020 in Fergus Falls, MN. They were walking along the river walk, just talking about their future. Kody then got down on one knee and asked Jessi to marry him... She thought he was joking and started to walk away. As she walked away, Kody told her it was a real ring and a real proposal. She was left speechless, but said "Yes!" Although Kody was overjoyed, he was still disappointed that he couldn't propose how he wanted to. They both decided to take a trip to Theodore Roosevelt National Park on May 30th. Near the end of the day, in the North Unit of the park, they hiked a trail that led to a beautiful and secluded overlook. Kody decided it was the perfect spot for the "official" proposal. He made a very sweet speech for Jessi and asked her to marry him once again. She still said "Yes!"
