As the date gets closer, we will let you know of any COVID precautions we need to take, if any. Just FYI: For the most part, the ceremony and reception are outdoors.
Our 12:15pm outdoor wedding ceremony will be among redwood trees at the top of a mountain, about 30 minutes from Palo Alto. The venue is called The Mountain Terrace, and the address is 17285 Skyline Blvd, Woodside, CA 94062. It is best to carpool to the venue. Note that the road up and down the mountain is a bit twisty. Our 5:30pm outdoor reception will be at the home of Jessi’s Aunt Anne and Uncle Buzz. The address is 1125 University Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94301. This is about 1.5 miles from our suggested hotels.
It is probably best to rent a car, perhaps with a group. You will need a car to get to the ceremony, about 30 minutes from Palo Alto. You may also want a car to sightsee in the Bay Area and/or to go to the beach. Do not plan to use Uber and Lyft to go to the mountaintop ceremony. They cannot guarantee drivers will be willing to make that trip. Uber/Lyft rides are a good option within Palo Alto, however, such as to/from your lodging to the reception. Unfortunately, the hotels do not provide shuttle services.
Ceremony: There is a parking lot in front of the venue. Reception: Consider using Uber/Lyft for the reception or you may park on the street, on either side of University Avenue or Chaucer Street.
The temperature in Northern California is unpredictable. It varies a lot between morning, midday, and evening. And it varies a lot by location, even a few miles apart. It gets cooler and potentially foggier as you get closer to the coast. Since there is no humidity, the basic gist is that you could be warm if you’re in the sun and chilly if you’re in the shade (or in a foggy area). Note that it could be sunny and warm when you leave Palo Alto but chilly when you arrive at our ceremony. Be prepared!
The ceremony should be over by 1pm. Cocktails start @ 5:30. Head down to the coast or back toward Palo Alto for a late lunch. Across from venue: Alice’s Restaurant (breakfast until 2pm; great burgers; don’t worry about the motorcycle gangs!; no reservations) Coastal town of Half Moon Bay: 30 minutes from venue; It will take you 45-60 minutes to get back to Palo Alto from here; a few options with ocean views: -Sam’s Chowder House (no reservations) -Miramar Beach Restaurant (mostly seafood; no reservations) -Moss Beach Distillery (reservations; indoor/outdoor seating; a former speakeasy with a ghost!) -Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay (stunning setting; you’ll fit right in with your fancy attire!) 1)The Ocean Terrace (outdoors; no reservations) 2) The Conservatory (indoors; reservations) Back toward Palo Alto -Zott's (Rossotti’s Alpine Inn) (beer garden with very large outdoor area; 20 minutes from venue; no reservations) In Palo Alto: (see restaurants under “Things To Do”)
The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal/cocktail attire.
We have chosen to go child-free for our big day. Please use our wedding as an excuse for a date night!
