Jessi lives in Astoria, Oregon, where she says she’s blessed to enjoy lots of her favorite things nearby: stunning nature, great coffee and tea, and family. When she’s not at work or outside, she’s usually found reading or planning her next adventure to someplace new. Shane is currently living in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he’s stationed at Wheeler Army Airfield. People often recognize him by his enthusiastic sense of adventure and loud, genuine laugh. In his free time, he enjoys dancing, reading, and playing piano. Shane and Jessi met on a Friday night four years ago, when she ended up in Tacoma, Washington on a whim. A friend took her to a favorite salsa spot. It was there that they saw a guy by himself, who really seemed to be there for the dancing! Jessi found out that Shane had recently moved from New York City and was eager to explore the area. A month later, they decided to get together, where Jessi took him on a favorite hiking trail. The rest is history. When Shane proposed, he chose a place that was special for both of them: the pier on 39th Street. It’s where Jessi took him on his first trip to Astoria, and it’s where they made many important decisions about their relationship. That day was the rainiest one in October, and Shane says Jessi was dressed like a homeless man, jamming to Bon Jovi in the car while he white-knuckled the steering wheel. She’s glad she had the sense to remove the four sweaters she was wearing before they got out of the car. Jessi says she doesn’t remember much of anything he said to her during his speech, but the most memorable part was that he knelt down and proposed with a taco ring! Months earlier, she had joked about him finding her a Cracker Jack ring with a hamburger or a taco on it. He had the real ring in his pocket, which he gave to her as soon as she stopped laughing! Jessi and Shane have decided to have their wedding ceremony on the same 39th Street pier, with a reception in the historic Masonic Lodge downtown.
