Uptown Charlotte
Rhino Market- Small market a block from the hotel; great to grab drinks and food. We love their breakfast burrito! Golden Cow Creamery- A short walk from the hotel; try the strawberry on a waffle cone, but you can't go wrong here! Romare Bearden Park- Cute place to walk around
South End
South End is a hub for awesome breweries and restaurants, most of which are along the bike path: Food: Mac's Speed Shop - NC BBQ Hawkers asian street fare Superica - Mexican Rai Lay - Thai Let's Meat - Korean BBQ, $30 a person all you can eat 300 East - amazing bruch and dinner The Waterman fish bar - tasty seafood, and daily special oysters Drink: Craft tasting room & growler shop - get a glass of wine / a beer and a charcuterie board Seoul food meat co - awesome chicken wings, but also excellent back patio with drinks and games. Pins Mechanical Company - Massive bar with duck pin bowling, free play arcade games and more. Sycamore Brewing Triple C Brewing The Suffolk Punch - good for brunch/lunch/coffee/beer
NoDa
NoDa is the artsy area just North of uptown, a few of our favorite places include: Food: Optimist Hall - about a dozen food stalls to help the most indecisive group of people. Benny Pennello's jumbo slice pizza Deejai Noodle Bar - Thai Cabo Fish Taco Drink: Noda Company Store - small little place to grab a drink and hang out Salud - bottle shop & brewery Protagonist - experimental brews Wooden Robot - brewery w/ rooftop Smelly Cat - coffee
Plaza Midwood
Plaza Midwood is located just east from uptown charlotte: Food: Midwood Smokehouse - awesome North Carolina BBQ The Workman's Friend - Irish pub, Great for dinner or a drink Snooze, AM eatery - all day breakfast YAFO kitchen - Mediterranean "chipotle" The Common Market - tattoos and piercings are very welcome at this local deli Drink: The Thirsty Beaver - If you want a dive bar, this is the place Legion brewing Resident Culture Brewing Undercurrent Coffee
LoSo
Lower South End can be a bit out of the way, but is worth a visit for sure. Breweres at 4001 Yancy - a combo brewery concept from Victory & Southern Tier. Food & Drinks The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery - traditional Gernam brewery with a massive beer garden. Come grab a brautwurst and a beer and relax. Sugar Creek brewing company Queen Park Social - bowling, shuffleboard and other games + restaurant
Historic West End
West End is where Kara & I live, and we love walking/biking around our up and coming neighborhood: Food: Rhino Market & Deli - Our favorite place. This place has anything from breakfast burritos to deli sandwiches to any other snack you could want. Pinky's - great little burger/hot dog spot, very affordable. Drink: Town Brewing - very cool little brewery right across the street from where we live. Blue Blaze - Located at the end of the bike path, a quiet spot to get away from the noise of uptown. Jack beagles - easy for some standard american food/drinks
U.S. National Whitewater Center
The Whitewater Center is such a fun place to explore. Parking is $5 for the day. Once you are there you can walk all over the grounds. They have whitewater rafting, biking, zip lines, live music, a beer garden and so much more! Or if you're like Austin and I you can post up by the big drops, grab a beer and watch everyone fall out of their rafts! Fun Fact: Austin used to work here! So if you need any advice just ask him!
