A Humboldt favorite. Easy to find and the parking lot is right next to the beach, very kid-friendly.
Our favorite beach. The hike down is a bit more work than other local beaches, but we promise, it’s worth it.
If you have an extra day in town, Fern Canyon is a roughly 45 minute drive north from Arcata. Breathtaking 40-foot walls of ferns make you feel like you’re in Jurassic Park (it’s where they filmed the second movie!)
Come visit Michelle’s work and get some delicious treats while you’re in Arcata! All organic, local produce, and super adorable.
The Arcata Farmer’s Market happens on the Plaza, right in the heart of town. Enjoy a morning coffee and peruse some local produce and crafts. Often there is some live music, or maybe even a drum circle, for the classic Humboldt hippie experience.
If you are driving from south of Humboldt, take advantage of the Avenue of the Giants scenic highway. A good place to stop and stretch your legs, or just drive through and appreciate the biggest trees you’ll ever see (including a famous one you can drive through).
