If you don't want to go far - enjoy this classic Alta hike up to Cecret Lake. It is a shorter trail and family friendly. Best times to go are early morning or dusk to avoid the heat - there is a lot of exposure so bring water, a hat and sunscreen and make sure to give yourself enough time to chill at the lake! You can't go in but you the view is v v worth it. Click the image to link to all trials for a map.
Also located in Little Cottonwood Canyon, the Snowbird aerial tram presents an excellent view of the canyon and valley below. Tickets can be booked through the website. This is a low-stress family friendly activity (unless you are afraid of heights). If you want more of a challenge - you can run to the top instead as Tess did with her SLC pals for the UTMA Speed Goat Race (course options linked here: https://speedgoat.utmb.world/races/30K).
The Cliff Lodge pool and spa offers excellent views of the surrounding canyon and can be a relaxing place to enjoy the day. Please note that the pool is in high demand during the summer and requires timed entry, so book tickets in advance if you want a pool day!
