In June of 2022, Nora had just deleted all the dating apps, and Jesse had committed himself to getting on them. We were one tiny almost-miss away from never meeting, until Nora’s friend Jess heard Jesse belting karaoke in the Castro and decided to intervene on fate’s behalf, asking Jesse: “Are you single? Are you straight? Can I give you my friend Nora’s number?” We started texting in the wee hours of that morning and scheduled time to meet. Our first date was supposed to be a quick walk in Alamo Square Park, giving ourselves an out in case this blind date was a disaster. Once we started talking, neither of us wanted the night to end. A walk turned into drinks, drinks turned into dinner, and dinner turned into another loop around the park because we still had more to say. By the end of the night, Jesse asked, “So… when can I see you again?” Four weeks later, after a magical day wandering Filoli Gardens, we made it official. After a year and a half of dating and becoming inseparable in all the best ways, we decided to find a place together. Nora discovered the dreamiest spot in Laurel Heights, and somehow it just instantly felt like “us.” It’s been our happy little corner of the world ever since. This past April, we traveled through Europe together. One evening in Rome, on our way to dinner, Jesse suggested taking “the scenic route” at a quiet terrace overlooking the city. Jesse proposed and moments later, Nora proposed right back. Barring the street rose vendor that stuck a rose between our faces as we were weeping, it was a perfect moment! Now, alongside planning our wedding, we’re building DivaDance San Francisco together. It’s become this big, glittery, sometimes slightly chaotic dream that we’re pouring ourselves into, and doing as a team. The more we take on together, the more certain we are that we picked the right partner for all of it.
