We met through online dating (thanks Hinge!). Alexis happened to be dog sitting in Rancho Santa Margarita, which put Corona in her dating radius, and we popped up on each other's profiles as most compatible. Who knew the algorithm actually worked?! After talking about our mutual love of Disneyland, ministry, and coffee we knew we had to meet. Alexis was in the middle of a huge work project and told Jesse he had to wait two weeks to go on a date with her. He took it in stride and used it as an opportunity to ask for her number ;). She agreed and they set up a date for December 27th, 2021. We met at Common Room Roasters and Jesse surprised Alexis with Sidecar Doughnuts (if she's being honest, in that moment she was sold). What was supposed to be only a coffee date turned into a lunch date and 3 1/2 hours later they had decided another date was a must.
Jesse told Alexis they were celebrating her birthday early and told her he planned the day for them. He took her to their first lunch date spot, ate sidecar doughnuts, went to the zoo, and drank coffee while playing Monopoly Deal. Truly, Alexis thought she was just getting to do her favorite things. Looking back at this day, she doesn't understand how she didn't see it coming, but it was so surprising! He told her they were going to LA for dinner, but as they were passing Hidden House in Santa Ana (which Alexis audibly said hi to while they passed it) he did a hard right and turned into the parking lot. He led her to the coffee house, which is a special place for them. It's where Jesse told Alexis he loved her over coffee and Grocery Distribution paperwork. Also, they have an amazing latte! On the outside patio, there were white rose petals, candles, and photos from their life together. After saying so many kind and wonderful things (that neither of them can fully remember), Jesse asked Alexis to marry him and she quickly nodded and said YES!
