We have exclusive use of the castle for the entire weekend! All guests can stay onsite for the nights of Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd. Check in is at 2pm on Friday. Check out is 12pm Sunday.
Everyone coming to the wedding will have a room on-site for Friday and Saturday nights, and all room costs are covered! Jess & Sam will send out room assignments in mid-March, so keep an eye out for an email around then.
On Friday, we encourage everyone to dress in casual, comfortable, and warm clothes to participate in the Highland Games since we'll be outside and active (think leggings/sweatshirts/sweatpants, etc./kilts encouraged!) You'll have time to stop by your rooms afterwards if you'd like to change before dinner, which is also casual attire. For the wedding on Saturday, the dress code is formal. If you're looking to get into the Scottish spirit even more, please feel free to dress in Scottish formal attire! There are several shops that rent out formal kilts in Scotland for weddings, or bring your own if you have one.
The weather in Aberdeenshire in late April can vary, but typical temperatures are in the 40s and 50s. April is also Scotland's driest month for rain. If we end up having a warm sunny day on Saturday, we'll have the ceremony outdoors. Rain or shine, Highland Games on Friday will be outdoors - we'll have rain ponchos for everyone just in case :).
All meals are included for the weekend for all guests, except for lunch on Saturday. For breakfast both mornings: If staying in the castle rooms, breakfast is provided downstairs in the dining room. For everyone in the castle wing apartments, stables apartments, and cottages, the kitchens will be stocked with breakfast options. For dinners: Friday night dinner will be served from the food truck at the castle. Saturday dinner from the ballroom. For Saturday lunch: Lunch is not provided before the ceremony. We will have heavy hors d'oeuvres after the ceremony and before dinner.
