We started dating in September 2017 while Keri was living in San Francisco/Fresno and Jess was living in the South Bay. Since then, we've traveled to places near and far, Keri endured Jess studying for the bar, Jess endured Keri being a Yankees fan, and most recently we moved from San Francisco to Park City.
Keri and I had picked out our rings (thanks, Aunt Doreen!) and set a 'proposal window' -- a time frame in which each of us would propose to the other -- of mid-February to the end of April. I decided I wanted to be first. I booked a sunset snow shoe adventure, which concluded at a secluded mountain yurt where I got down on one knee and Keri was the first to say "Yes." We were immediately joined by our friends Kyle, Mel, and Natalie who had been hiding out in the yurt snapping pictures. We then celebrated with axe throwing, champagne, and a dinner, capped off with a Robyn dance party at the yurt (in that order . . . no alcohol prior to axe throwing).
I was in a tough spot trying to match up to Jess's proposal. So, I decided to go with the delay tactic. I waited until the very end of the 'proposal window' and surprised Jess by booking a tree house for the night (yes a literal house built around a tree in the mountains of Utah, thanks to Mel for the suggestion). I had decorated the deck and hired a photographer to capture the special moment. Time was winding down, so Jess must have known it was coming. However, she was still very surprised (to my shock and delight). We capped off the celebration the next day by getting our second vaccination shot!
