Maid of Honor
Sarah and Jess met while waitressing in college and completely hit it off. They then visited five European countries in two weeks and didn't want to kill each other by the end of the trip, which automatically made them best friends!
Best Man
Jon started playing Pop Warner football with Jerry when they were young, but they didn't really meet each other until Jerry finally went through a growth spurt and was actually allowed to play in the game. They'd been friends ever since.
Bridesmaid
Nicola and Jess met in fifth grade. They hit it off pretty quickly because they shared the same sense of humor, both loved beanie babies and the Backstreet Boys, and were both chubby with braces. So, naturally they gravitated towards each other.
Best Man
The first experience Jon can remember with Dave was when he came into homeroom on the first day of school alarmingly late and wearing what appeared to be half his breakfast on his shirt. What was most puzzling was how Dave had managed to already lose his backpack before school even started. Jon decided he needed to know more, and here we are.
Bridesmaid
Jess had very few kids in her neighborhood growing up, and literally chased down the new girl she saw riding a bike down the street in 1994. They had a love/hate relationship as kids, but managed to remain best friends.
Groomsman
Mark and Jon met in their early teens, playing baseball and hockey together. As high school started, they were already good friends and became defensive partners on the hockey team. Mark still won't admit that Jon was really the bigger hitter.
Bridesmaid
Jess and Sarah Grinnell recruited Rachel to join them on their Friday night mall trips in middle school (Rachel's dad soon became their routine ride home) and the three soon formed their own gang of sorts. They were inseparable through high school, and remained friends even as the military brought Rachel and her husband to Idaho for several years.
Groomsman
Jon met Neil through his brother Mike when they were kids. Neil would tag along with his younger brother and his friends, so out of necessity and a lot if pity, they became friends.
Bridesmaid
Jess and Erin ended up living together by chance during their senior year of college, and somehow managed to stay friends through graduate school, even though they literally never saw each other. They became very close when they moved to Southie together and re-lived the college years.
Groomsman
Jon met Tyler a few weeks into his career as a firefighter, and the two bonded while playing for the department's hockey team. Tyler was standoffish at first because his role as best goal scorer on the team was very obviously in jeopardy once Jon joined, but eventually he got over it.
