We both attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO for college. We lived in the same dorm building, but never met. We even lived at nearby apartment complexes, but we never met! It wasn't until we went for a first date at Top of the Marq for dinner and drinks that we knew that this was something special. I think we both thought it would be a short dinner, but ended up spending 4 hours talking about everything and anything.
We were celebrating our 2 year anniversary early and Chase planned a fun day in Saint Louis at the place where he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. He kept insisting that I get dressed up for our date, but I told him I liked my overalls better since it wasn't a fancy occasion. First we grabbed brunch at Polite Society and shared mimosas. We walked between the rain drops down the street for a cup of coffee before heading to the Saint Louis Art Museum. Little did I know, Chase had hired a photographer to follow us into the museum and capture our special moment. Chase asked me what I wanted the next year together to look like with his upcoming deployment looming ahead. I remember being thrown off by the question since we just spent Brunch talking about this. Lol. That was when he got down on one knee and asked for me to marry him. I had no words and I honestly don't think I gave him an answer at the time. Our photographer, Lauren, captured it perfectly and we spend some time in Forrest Park getting pictures. Chase also had planned a small party at our favorite winery with our closest friends and family to celebrate. It was absolutely perfect.
